Photography FAQ

Frequently asked

Your questions, answered

Can't see yours? Ask on the contact page and I'll get back to you.

01How long until we get our photographs?
I aim to have your gallery to you within four weeks. If anything holds that up, I'll be in touch with an updated date rather than leave you wondering.
02How many photographs will we receive?
Family, couples and maternity sessions come with a gallery of around 50 or more professionally edited photographs, and every one of them can be downloaded from your online gallery.
03We're awkward in front of a camera. Will you help with posing?
Yes. I'll guide you the whole way through, with simple directions and things to do rather than stiff poses. If there's a particular photograph you'd love, tell me beforehand and we'll make sure we get it.
04Where do sessions take place?
Outdoors, in and around Broken Hill: the desert edges, the old mining town streets, Silverton and the open plains. Tell me what feels like you and I'll suggest somewhere that fits, with the light at its best.
05What time of day is best?
Usually the hour or so before sunset, when the light is low and warm. In the hottest months that often means an early-morning session instead, which is kinder on little ones too.
06Can we use the photographs for our business?
Your photographs are for personal use. Commercial licensing is available on request, so if you'd like to use them to promote a business, just ask and we'll sort that out first.
07How do I book?
Send an enquiry with the kind of session and roughly when. I'll reply with available dates and everything you need to know, and a booking is confirmed once the details are agreed.
08Do you photograph weddings?
Yes. Collections and details are in the wedding guide, which you can download from the Weddings page.
09What happens if the weather is bad?
I keep an eye on the forecast and we'll talk the day before. If it's raining, blowing dust or dangerously hot, we'll find another evening that suits you.
10Do you travel?
Yes. Sessions are usually in and around Broken Hill and Silverton; for somewhere further afield, tell me where and I'll let you know what's involved.
11Can I buy prints?
Every photograph is downloadable from your gallery for your own printing. Ask if you'd like help choosing a print lab or sizes.
